In the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony is our beautiful Bad Iburg on the southern slope of the 331 meter high mount Dörenberg. Bad Iburg in the Teutoburger Forest is a recognized Kneipp health town. The landmark of the city is the Iburg castle, where the old Benedictine abbey has been combined with the castle into a remarkable double unit.
The Iburg castle was built in 1070 initially to be a castle - the Benedictine monastery was founded after that in 1080. Especially recommended is the Knights' Hall with a fireplace and central ceiling paintings. The castle and monastery Iburg are among the most historic construction in Lower Saxony.
Through the middle of Bad Iburg leads the Peace Route, a cycling trail of 170 km, which is in memory of the peace agreement of 1648 to end the 30-year war. It was negotiated in Osnabrück and Münster.
